At Your Wellbeing Matters, we are committed to offering a compassionate, detailed and responsive assessment experience.
Our multidisciplinary team (covering a range of relevant professionals) collaborates closely with families at every stage, ensuring that you remain informed, supported, and empowered throughout the assessment journey.
At Your Wellbeing Matters, we incorporate various sources of information using a range of evidence-based assessment frameworks (i.e., ADI-R; ADOS; DIVA) to provide you with a thorough understanding of your, or your child's strengths and needs.
We recognise that each of us (including you or your child) see and experience the world in their own way, and some of us need assistance and/or adaptations to flourish. That is why we concentrate on identifying your child's strengths as well as their needs, guiding and signposting you to the most appropriate services and resources to empower you or your child.
Multidisciplinary Autism and Attention Deficit Assessments
The Assessment Pathway
Child Assessment
Here is what you can expect:
-
Pre-Assessment Screening and Intake Meeting: If you are unsure about an assessment, we will ask you to do a short screening questionnaire, which will indicate whether either an Autism and/or ADHD assessment will be helpful in your child's case. We will then have an intake meeting, which is designed to explain the process of the assessment, discuss consent, information-sharing etc, and also provide you an opportunity to ask any questions.
-
Pre-Assessment Information Gathering: We use this time to gather information by way of questionnaires, and previous records. This might be teacher questionnaires, previous records of relevant contact with CAMHS, or your GP. This helps us understand your child’s characteristics, strengths, challenges, and preferences before the first appointment.
-
Appointment 1 – This entails a detailed interview with our psychologist using the Autism Diagnostic Interview–Revised (ADI-R). This session lasts about two hours. This interview is attended by parents only.
-
Appointment 2 - If we are assessing for both Autism and an Attention Deficit, we will have a second interview, using the Diagnostic Interview for ADHD (DIVA-5) in Childhood. Depending on the age of your child, they may attend this interview. This interview is likely to be shorter than the first.
-
Appointment 3 – A play-based session with your child, conducted by our Psychologist. This session is scored using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS). This assessment explores communication, social interaction, play, and behaviour, and typically takes about an hour.
-
Scoring & Multidisciplinary Review: Our team carefully scores all assessments and meets to review the findings, discuss observations, and determine if a diagnosis is indicated.
-
Appointment 4 – We meet with the parents to explain the findings, and share our recommendations, both in terms of next steps and ensuring your expectations of the assessment have been met. Additional assessments may be recommended to ensure a complete understanding of your child’s needs.
-
Comprehensive Report: You will receive a detailed written report outlining findings, diagnosis (if applicable), and tailored recommendations.
